Constantino Closes Out 2017 Season With Victory During Crate Modified Monster Mash Season Finale

October 29, 2017 (Fultonville, NY) – It was a ‘spooktacular’ season finale at The Ridge, as the fastest ¼ mile on ended their 2017 racing season with a Halloween special. Dave Constantino, Bill August, Luke Horning, Chase Aussicker, Andy Graves, Spencer Cherko, and Matthew Backus finished the season in victory lane Saturday night.

The Crate Modified Monster Mash began with ‘Big Time Little Tim’ Tim Hartman Jr. and the man of many faces Dave Constantino battling for the race lead at the drop of the green. Mark Mortensen, Adam McAuliffe, and Lou Torres went toe-to-toe for position inside the top five with Michael Coffey Jr. and Jeremy Pitts as well.

Despite a few late race restarts, Constantino was able to hold off the charging Mortensen and Hartman Jr. to pick up the win. Jeremy Pitts, Adam McAullife, Mike Coffey Jr., Joe Orlando, Lou Torres, Tim Faulter, and Floyd Billington rounded out the top 10. Bill August was credited as the Limited Sportsman winner.

The Pro Stock Pumpkin Spice 20-lap feature event had fans on their feet, as Jim Normoyle Sr. and ‘cousin’ Luke Horning battled hot and heavy for the race lead early on. Justin Knight has been one of the Ridge best full-fender drivers over the years and has had a solid season in the Todd Hoffman owned 8k, as he battled teammate Ivan Joslin who picked up the ride in the other Hoffman owned Pro Stock.

Joslin had the fans on their feet after a mid race pass to claim 2nd from Knight and began pressuring track champion Luke Horning for the lead. Chuck McSpirit had moved from his 8th place starting position into the top five at one point during the event also, but all eyes were up front as Luke Horning notched another win holding off heavy challenges from Joslin, Normoyle, and Justin Knight. Dave Stickles made the trip to the ridge with his brand new Pro Stock and rounded out the top five.

Chase Aussicker was on a quest; to go a perfect 4-for-4 at The Ridge in 2017. First he’d have to deal with the Superstar Jason Smarov and Smokin’ Joey Wilson during the Street Stock Scare Factory feature event. It took Aussicker 10 laps to finally move to the top spot with a pass on Smarov, but the Superstar wasn’t giving up easily charging and challenging late in the event. Aussicker had enough juice to get the job done though, as he picked up the win followed by Samrov, Wilson, Jim Gronki, and Cliff Haslun rounding out the top five.

Mini Stock Slime Time saw Chris Andrew take the early lead in the 15-lap feature event, but he’d have company in the form of Steve Ryan. Ryan a potent force in 4-Cylinder racing slipped up just a tad in turn four tagging the wall and ending his evening early in the race.

Tim Simonds and Damon Anderson battled for position with Johnny Bennet and Josh Samrov, but all eyes were on Andy Graves who was hot on the trail of his car owner for the lead. Graves took the top ospot on lap 12 and cruised home to the victory. Andrew, Simonds, Bennet, and Samrov rounded out the top five.

Jeepers Creepers Sling Shot feature action began with Danny Ballard leading the way after passing Spencer Cherko. Brett Putnam and Dennis Tice made their presence felt racing inside the top five, but Cherko was making his winning move back up front. He’d pass for the lead on Ballard and set sail to victory lane. Putnam, Ballard, Tice, and Don Boonstra would round out the top five. Matthew Backus earned the Jr. Sling Shot feature win.

With the 2017 season a wrap, management is working on the banquet and began planning the 2018 racing season already with the announcement of Street Stocks being a regular division next summer.
