Shaffer Shines In Point Finale At The Ridge

September 18, 2017 (Fultonville, NY) – Sunday night saw six drivers etch their name into Glen Ridge record books, as Chris Curtis, Mikey Jackson, Luke Horning, Chris Andrews, Mike Hill, and Garrett Poland punched their ticket to title town claiming 2017 track championships in their respective divisions.

Harry Shaffer II and Jim Introne Jr. led the field to the green flag, but yellow quickly flew for the 96 of Rob Maxon who found himself facing the wrong direction in front of the field collecting up the 22 of Tim Hartman Jr. and the 97 of Bobby Hackel IV.

On the restart Shaffer went back to lead, while track title contender Chris Curtis worked his way into third position. Coming fast was Ricky Quick and Dave Constantino. Constantino would work his way past into the runner up spot, but nobody was catching Happy Harry Shaffer. He rolled to his 1st win of the season at the fastest quarter mile on dirt. He was followed by Constantino, Curtis, Hartman, and Introne Jr. Chris Curtis earned the 2017 Crate Modified track championship.

“We’ve been off for a few weeks and we had DKM fix the car and tonight it was a rocket ship,” said Harry Shaffer in victory lane.

“This feels real good. This team has worked so hard for this the past three years we’ve been here. We struggled a bit the second half of the season, but the last few weeks this car has been on rails,” said 2017 Crate Modified track champion Chris Curtis.

Kathy Bellen and Vinny Visconti led the Limited Sportsman to the green flag, with Visconti taking the early lead. Title contenders Mikey Jackson and Dave Richer were racing hot and heavy with Jackson working his way to the lead. Bill August worked his way to the runner up spot, while Richer worked his way into third. Jackson would roll to the win with August, Richer, Visconti, and Lou Torres rounding out the top five. Jackson punched his ticket to title town earning the 2017 Limited Sportsman track championship.

“We haven’t been very good for the past few weeks, but we came to race for the title. I can’t thank everyone at DKM enough for getting this thing fixed. I was feeling down a couple weeks ago and Craig and Marie Boehler gave me a hell of pep talk,” said an enthusiastic Mikey Jackson on his win and 2017 Limited Sportsman track championship.

Pro Stock action was wild to decide the track championship, however Luke Horning had other plans. Everyone’s cousin simply rolled to the front and stayed there. He’d collect the win and $100 bonus from Yurkewitz Auto Crushers. Ivan Joslin, Norm Loubier, Jim Normoyle Sr., and JJ Courcy rounded out the top five. Luke not only won the race but also sealed the deal punching his ticket to title town earning the 2017 Pro Stock track championship.

“It feels pretty good. I tried to be as clean as I can and we’ve been pretty consistent. It’s a group effort, but it’s tough. We do well so we start near the back of handicapping every week and Ivan was so quick and good the last few weeks I knew it was going to be close. It’s a good night,” said Luke Horning in victory lane after clinching the 2017 Pro Stock track championship.

Chris Andrew rocked his 3rd win of the season punching his ticket to title town claiming the 2017 4-Cylinder Mini Stock track championship. He was followed by Damon Anderson, Zach McSpirit, TJ Marlitt, and Rich Wagner Jr. rounding out the top five.

“It’s awesome. Track was perfect tonight. It was fast and tacky,” said Chris Andrew in victory lane about his 2017 4-Cylinder Mini Stock track championship.

Mike Hill has been a house of fire late in the 2017 season during Sling Shot action. He solidified his title run with another win punching his ticket to title town, as the Sling Shot track champion. Derrick Mcgrew Jr. picked up the Jr. Sling Shot victory, while Garrett Poland locked up the track championship.
